Plug in to this super-charged Yerba Mate and prepare for a major buzz with this smoked yerba mate. What makes smoked mate so special? With smoked yerba mate, the tea takes on some of the flavour from the smoke, which results in a richer taste. The plant's leaves and stems are dried in a large tumbler called a sapecado. A wood fire generates heat and smoke, which are blown over the plants with a fan. This is faster than air-drying yerba mate and contributes to a different flavor once the plant is eventually turned into tea.
